Attorney Profiles: Kathryn K. Shebiel

Ms. Shebiel was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in 1978. She joined the firm in 1992, and is now a retired shareholder. She concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, trusts and probate.

Ms. Shebiel brings to the firm a wealth of experience, including several years as an officer in one of the state's leading trust companies. In addition to administering personal and testamentary trusts, she managed the probate of estates.

A 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, Ms. Shebiel received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1964. In the interim she raised her two children.

Ms. Shebiel is licensed to practice in all Wisconsin Courts and in the Federal Western District Court, and is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Rock County Bar Association, for which she served as Treasurer for the period 1986-1991.

Ms. Shebiel is active in civic affairs. She served five years on the Janesville Community Development Authority, having served both as Vice Chairperson and as Chairperson. Other community activities included the League of Women Voters and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. Currently, Ms. Shebiel is President of Faith Lutheran Church Council.

Ms. Shebiel's hobbies include genealogy - researching her own family, Colonial Dames of XVII Century and German Interest Group.  She also is a writer and enjoys reading.  She likes spending time with her daughter-in-law and her son who practices law in Portland, Oregon, and with her son-in-law, three grandsons, and daughter who live in the Milwaukee area where her daughter is a school librarian. 

Ms. Shebiel describes herself as intense but caring in her role as a professional.
